SUMMARY

The Sr. Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and buying of equipment, materials, and services to meet the Company’s operational requirements. This includes understanding market trends and identifying internal and external risk factors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This is a senior level position requiring a strong leader with demonstrated functional and project management skills who can be directly accountable for ensuring overall supply chain function performance
  • This role is accountable for building supplier partnerships in the deployment of lean, high-quality, high-velocity supply chain practices
  • Supervises directly and through subordinate supervisory employees, the planning, procurement, storage, and control of materials. Responsible for directing the work force in such a manner as to meet approved production schedules
  • Exercise strong business acumen to connect technical concerns to ultimate contract performance and proactively identify and resolve problems and efficiently and effectively
  • This position will be part of a core team focused on plant expansion. Acting as a key member in the negotiation, management, and procurement of capital equipment
  • Negotiate contracts, improve pricing and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice methods
  • Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities
  • Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships and ensure good communications
  • Work with engineering and operations to understand and support development plans
  • Help identify internal and external risk factors in our supply chain
  • Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers and in line with organizational targets and requirements. Serve as a backup to purchasing agent
  • Attend trade shows, product exhibitions, and conferences to maintain understanding of new products and trends
  • Identify new suppliers and maintain list of all product suppliers in the market
  • Deliver briefs, updates, and reports as and when required
  • Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact
  • Responsible for coaching, developing, and mentoring resources
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Operations, or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in a Supply Chain leadership role
  • Experience in Global Purchasing, Material Requirements, or Supply Chain/Logistics
  • Experience in capital equipment purchasing and negotiations
  • Proven purchasing experience, preferably within an automotive or manufacturing environment
  • Contract management and supplier experience
  • Experience in manufacturing and the automotive industry is a plus
  • Project management experience
  • Experience implementing new ERP software is a plus

REQUIREMENTS

  • In-depth knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and best practice
  • Working knowledge of finance and accounting in terms of budgeting, cost management, financial accounting, treasury, and risk management
  • Strong Project Management Skills
